The challenge: Investigate Microsoft Teams chat in eDiscovery
The client was investigating an internal HR matter and the scope of the investigation included Microsoft Teams chat channels.
In the course of assisting our client with collecting data from Microsoft 365 and hosting the resulting data in Reveal for review, our client was finding reviewing the Teams chat data challenging.
When exported, Microsoft Purview formats the Teams data in JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) which does not present easily into a human-readable format for review.
Our solution: Recreate the conversation with some clever scripting
Our data experts converted the data into a far more readable conversational paradigm format, complete with time stamp and other annotations, using Python script.
Presenting the conversations in an easy-to-read format allowed for a quicker review and maintained the associated meta-data for future analysis.
