The challenge:
A web search brought this client to us when they were presented with an internal HR investigation across their Microsoft environment and they wanted help using Microsoft Purview eDiscovery. A relatively small organisation, their IT team was small and had had no experience using Microsoft’s eDiscovery functionality in the past.
Our solution:
Our experts offered hands-on practical advice and training to assist with the initial searches. At this stage, the investigation covered one individual’s mailbox and related communications. We provided on-the-job training for the IT team to carry out a thorough data collection in Microsoft Purview eDiscovery, advising on search terms and collection options, to ensure all relevant information (but not too much) was captured.
As the investigation progressed, the scope increased and the client returned to us for assistance casting the search across a wider group of individuals, and searching their Teams communications, as well as email traffic, for mentions of the subject. Microsoft Purview eDiscovery’s functionality is constantly evolving and it is challenging for IT professionals to keep up with the latest developments or indeed remember the impact of some of the more complex options, when they are not using it every day. We were able to provide support and confidence in the rigour of the further searches across the full Microsoft estate.
When it came to review by legal counsel, they requested that data collected during the investigation be processed into an eDiscovery platform designed for detailed review and Court production. We were able to assist them with processing the data into Reveal, so that the legal team could take advantage of the advanced search and document production capabilities required for tribunal proceedings.
