The DSAR challenge:
A disgruntled employee submitted a DSAR to their former employer following a claim of unfair dismissal and subsequent court action. The law firm involved came to Salient because of our experience dealing with large data volumes and our ability to harness technology to assist in speeding up the process.
The Salient solution:
Before embarking on the initial assessment of the data, we discussed and agreed the parameters for the search. Starting with a volume of 30,000 items, we quickly applied key search terms, de-duplicated the data and reduced the number to 3,000 items for review. Assisted by Reveal’s generative AI powered technology, we built a schedule of the documents relevant to the DSAR and were able to significantly accelerate its production, by pre-populating information, identifying PII and sensitive information, and flagging more complicated content for human review. Having completed the full review, we ran the searches across the full dataset again to expose content pertinent to the request that had not been picked up in the first iteration and carried out further elusion testing to check nothing had been missed.
The outcome:
We completed the request within three weeks, allowing our client to meet the DSAR requirements and await further instruction.
